Flower Power Spotlight: Bud & Mary’s Is Pushing the Front Line of Cannabis Innovation & Impact

Celebrate the Champions of the Cannabis Community

Flower Power is LeafLink’s weekly series celebrating customers and organizations making a positive impact in cannabis. Every week, we’re spotlighting the change makers building a stronger, more inclusive industry.

Welcome back to LeafLink’s Flower Power series, where we spotlight the organizations making a lasting impact in cannabis and beyond. This week, we sat down with Lindsey Fuchs, VP of Sales at Bud & Mary’s, a family-owned, multi-state cannabis company with a mission deeply rooted in science and social impact.

Family Roots, Forward Thinking

Bud & Mary’s takes its name from the founder’s grandparents—actual farmers who once cultivated rosemary and oregano. Today, that legacy lives on through a different kind of plant, with operations across Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, Iowa, and newly launched in Illinois.

“We’re still a family business at heart,” Lindsey shared. “But we’re leading the charge when it comes to innovation, research, and responsibility in cannabis.”

A Leader in Cannabis Research

Bud & Mary’s is making history as the first cannabis company to hold a Schedule I DEA Bulk Research License. That federal designation allows them to legally contribute to cannabis research at a national level. They’re also GMP and GAP certified in Colorado—proof of their commitment to safe, consistent, and quality products.

Their flagship study is a partnership with the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, researching the effects of cannabis on Alzheimer’s and dementia. “We’re working to understand how this plant could slow the progression of these devastating diseases,” Lindsey said.

Making an Impact with Every Batch

One of MCBA’s most impactful initiatives is the Equity Workshop Tour (EWT), led by Board Chair Mike Lomuto. “Last year we had 23 stops. This year the same commitment to touch the masses exists,” Frederika shared. “The amazing thing about our Equity Workshop Tour is that it meets people where they are.”

These events bring together stakeholders across the spectrum — from policymakers to entrepreneurs to community members. In Denver, for example, Governor Polis participated in one of the workshops, demonstrating the power of direct engagement to move the industry forward.

Bud & Mary’s is also creating space for social equity and community investment through its limited-edition Awareness line under the Batch brand. These products are developed in collaboration with nonprofits and advocacy groups, with a portion of proceeds supporting their work.

Past Awareness partnerships include:

  • Black Cannabis Equity Initiative (Colorado)
  • One Colorado (LGBTQ+ advocacy)
  • The People’s Ecosystem
  • Can Play, which funds after-school programs in underserved communities
  • Easterseals Iowa

The most recent Awareness launch features a Straw Melon vape cartridge, with $2.25 from each unit sold donated to Can Play in Missouri.

“There’s plenty of innovation happening in cannabis product development,” Lindsey said. “But the industry still has work to do when it comes to innovation in social impact. That’s where we want to lead.”

Support the Mission

Whether you’re a retailer or a consumer, getting involved is simple. Stock or shop the awareness line in participating markets, and a portion of your purchase will directly support the featured organization.

“At Bud & Mary’s, we don’t cut corners,” Lindsey emphasized. “Whether it’s product quality, clinical research, or community support—we’re here to push the front line forward.”
