Flower Power: DIZPOT Leads with Community, Advocacy, and Heart
Celebrate the Champions of the Cannabis Community
Flower Power is LeafLink’s weekly series celebrating customers and organizations making a positive impact in cannabis. Every week, we’re spotlighting the change makers building a stronger, more inclusive industry.
This week, we’re proud to feature DIZPOT, a cannabis packaging company built on values as sturdy as its supply chain. Based in Phoenix, Arizona and serving every legal cannabis market across the U.S., DIZPOT has carved out a reputation for reliability, creativity, and deeply rooted community engagement.
We spoke with John Hartsell, co-founder and CEO, about how DIZPOT’s “boots on the ground” approach to advocacy is shaping both policy and people-focused partnerships in cannabis.
Packaging Meets Purpose
Founded in 2017, DIZPOT began by identifying a core need in the industry: better branded packaging. But the company’s mission goes well beyond product. John and his team actively consult with regulators across the country to help shape effective, compliant cannabis programs — from Kentucky to Ohio to Arkansas.
“We really lead our marketing efforts through our advocacy,” John shared. “You have to put your money where your mouth is, but more importantly, your boots on the ground.”
DIZPOT’s values — old school service, no hesitation, and the Golden Rule — guide everything from how they handle customer service to how they show up in new markets.
Building Culture Through Creativity
Community isn’t just something DIZPOT supports externally — it’s something they actively cultivate inside their own walls. One of their recent team-building initiatives, the “DIZPuzzle Challenge,” involved sending branded puzzles to over 100 customers, encouraging companies to gather their teams, solve the puzzle together, and share photos from creative spots in their operations.
“It sparked connection. It brought joy. And it brought us all a little closer,” said John. The challenge ended with packaging credit prizes — and a sneak peek at the next one involving remote control cars and a “sick jump.”
Rising to the Moment
John also shared one of DIZPOT’s toughest moments — when a container of customer products was lost at sea during a tsunami. Without hesitation, the team re-produced all affected inventory and covered the costs.
“That’s the way we operate,” John said. “Take action first, then be transparent and solve the problem.” For a company that’s weathered COVID-era disruptions and shifting supply chain dynamics, it’s clear: DIZPOT doesn’t just preach resilience — they practice it.
Advocacy at the Core
DIZPOT is a proud supporter of the Redemption Foundation, which funds commissary accounts for individuals incarcerated for non-violent cannabis offenses. “The first time I heard about it, I wrote a $3,000 check on the spot,” said John. “It’s about dignity and humanity.”
When asked where this drive for community comes from, John didn’t hesitate: “It’s where our customers are. And it’s where we get to show them that we care.”
